Pool Energy Planner privacy policy

This privacy policy applies to Pool Energy Planner, an Android application developed by Measured Products Software. It describes the current internal-testing design. We will update this page before releasing any version with materially different data practices.

Summary

Pool Energy Planner works without an account, advertising, identity-linked analytics, or cloud synchronization. App information is stored locally on the device. Measured Products Software does not sell personal information.

Information stored on your device

Users may enter pool dimensions, language and currency preferences, utility rates and bill records, equipment details, estimates, actual-usage records, operating schedules, pool profiles, and maintenance reminders. The app uses this information to provide its planning, comparison, history, export, and reminder features. Measured Products Software does not receive this locally stored information.

Camera, photos, and on-device text recognition

The app may request camera access only after the user chooses to photograph an equipment label or utility bill. Users may instead choose an existing image through Android's system picker or use manual entry. The image and its text are processed on the device with Google ML Kit. Information found in a photo remains editable and is shown for confirmation before it is saved or used.

The app does not upload label or bill images automatically. A temporary camera image is discarded after processing. Choosing an existing image does not copy, change, or delete the original in the device's photo library.

Optional support reports

If the app cannot read an equipment label, utility-bill image, or utility-bill PDF, the user may choose Send unread image to Support. The app asks the user to select the problem image or PDF again, displays the selected attachment, warns that bills and screenshots may contain names, addresses, account numbers, and usage information, and requires explicit consent. Nothing is transmitted automatically.

After consent, the app opens an email draft addressed to support@measuredproductssoftware.com. The draft contains the selected attachment, app version, Android version, input source, unread fields, and any optional note entered by the user. It does not add a device identifier or unrelated pool-profile data. The user can edit the draft, remove the attachment, decline to send it, or cancel.

Measured Products Software uses a received support report only to investigate and correct app problems. Support attachments and their diagnostic details are deleted within 90 days, or sooner when the issue is resolved or earlier deletion is requested. The email application and provider chosen by the user may process or retain the message under their own terms and privacy policy.

Google ML Kit diagnostics

Google states that ML Kit may collect device and application information, per-installation identifiers, performance metrics, API configuration, feature versions, event types, and error codes for diagnostics and usage analytics. Google states that this diagnostic data is encrypted in transit and is not transferred to third parties. ML Kit processes input images and recognized text on the device and does not send those inputs or results to Google servers.

Optional local notifications

If a user enables maintenance reminders, the app stores each schedule and pool-profile name on the device. Android delivers the enabled local notifications at the selected dates and times. Reminder schedules are not sent to Measured Products Software. Users can disable individual reminders in the app or notification permission in Android settings.

User-requested exports

When a user explicitly saves or shares a pool profile, the app creates a PDF report or temporary CSV file. A PDF saved to the device goes to the folder selected by the user. Sharing a PDF or CSV opens Android's system chooser, and the destination is entirely the user's selection. The app does not automatically upload exports.

Google Play Pro purchase

Pool Energy Planner Pro is a one-time, non-consumable purchase with no subscription or automatic renewal. Google Play processes the payment and refund requests under its policies and applicable law. If Google Play refunds, cancels, or revokes the purchase, Pro access ends.

The app asks Google Play for eligible purchases when billing starts so that an existing lifetime Pro purchase can be recovered on another installation using the same Google account. Measured Products Software does not receive or store payment-card details.

Data collection and sharing

The app does not automatically transmit pool profiles, equipment details, label or bill images, recognized text, utility-bill records, schedules, reminders, estimates, exports, or actual-usage history to Measured Products Software. The only developer-directed image or document transmission is the optional support-report email described above, which requires a specific user action and consent. The app does not include advertising SDKs or identity-linked analytics SDKs. Google processes the limited ML Kit diagnostics described above under Google's applicable terms and privacy policy.

Permissions

Camera and notification access are optional. Camera access is used only for a user-initiated photo. The Android system picker is used for existing images, so broad photo-library access is not required. Manual equipment and utility entry remains available when photo access is declined. Maintenance reminders remain optional when notification access is declined.

Storage, security, and retention

Saved app information remains on the device until the user edits or deletes it, clears the app's storage, or uninstalls the app. Temporary camera images are deleted after processing; gallery originals remain under the user's control. Temporary support-report copies are deleted after the user cancels the support flow or returns to the app from the email chooser. Received support attachments and diagnostic details are deleted within 90 days, or sooner when the issue is resolved or earlier deletion is requested. Android, device backups, chosen export destinations, email providers, and device security settings may affect information the user chooses to save or share.

Delete your data

Pool Energy Planner does not create an online account. Instructions for removing locally stored information are available on our data-deletion page.

Children

Pool Energy Planner is intended for adult pool owners and service professionals and is not directed to children under 13.

Estimates and sensitive information

The app provides planning estimates rather than utility-meter measurements or equipment-control instructions. Users should not enter passwords, payment information, precise personal location, or other unnecessary sensitive information into app fields, exports, or support messages.

Changes

We may update this policy when app functionality, service providers, or legal requirements change. The effective date above identifies the current version.
